Spring

In April, the plants are small, they have not long germinated from seeds from last year's plants.

By May the plants have grown to about 20cm tall.

Summer

The plants are now about one metre or more high. In late June/early July there should be some flowers to aid identification.

After the flowers have withered, the seed pods ripen and dry. These then split, caterpaulting the seeds out. They may travel up to several metres. The seeds may be further dispersed, e.g., by rivers and then germinate the following Spring.
