Biodiversity Recording Pilot Project for all Schools in Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion; Summer Term 2000

All schools in Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion are invited to take part in a project in the summer term to increase our knowledge of the distribution of some animals and selected plants in this area. The project, being run by The National Botanic Garden of Wales in association with the Carmarthenshire Local Biodiversity Action Plan (LBAP) partnership, will act as a pilot for similar projects to take place during International Biodiversity Observation Year 2001.

We hope as many Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion schools as possible will take part, to give a really good idea of what is happening in all parts of this area. Only when we are able to compare a large number of results from across the two counties will there be an opportunity of a pattern appearing.

Schools in Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion were chosen as schools local to The Garden and also because they are linked by a Schools Intranet, which aids communication.

However, if schools from outside these two counties would like to take part and send in results, The Garden would be very pleased to have them as indicators of what is happening elsewhere.

The accumulated results will be mapped and on display at the Biodiversity Fair to be held at The National Botanic Garden of Wales on Saturday 30 September 2000.
