Learndirect Advisor
I have been working in a Learndirect centre in Goole College, inducting, enrolling and supporting learners engaged in online courses in literacy and Numeracy and IT to level 2. I support learners in the face-to-face workshop and online. I have decided I no longer wish to deliver Learndirect. I may have to work 1 months notice.

Learndirect Tutor
I looked after a caseload of Learndirect adult learners engaged in literacy and Numeracy courses to level 2 and ICT from beginners to level 2/3. I supported up to about 70 learners at any one time in a training workshop, in small groups and online.
I have taken particular responsibility for Skills for Life, e.g., ensuring test passes meet targets and in 2004 acting as a Skills for Life Advocate, e.g., visiting centres and preparing materials, on initial assessment, good practice and the Learndirect offer.
I left because the company were not able to renew their contract with Learndirect and I was to be made redundant.

Adult IT Tutor
Casual work initially from Jan 2001 and from 2002-3 full-time.

Research Assistant
Fixed term contract researching into online teaching methods/pedagogies. This was part of an innovative collaborative project involving colleges in South West Wales. My work provided a good basis for the subsequent development of online training materials, which were then trialed and tested, thus increasing and sharing good practice in this new training field.
I left near end of contract because I wanted a teaching post.

Job Title, Main Responsibilities and Reason for Leaving

Prior to 2001 I taught for 2 years in secondary schools (Mid Glamorgan) and was a home tutor for 3 years (West Glamorgan).
I have a wide experience outside of education which includes library and laboratory work, driving and catering.
I worked as a driver (approx 1.5 years) for various courrier companies in London and Cardiff and for a removals firm in London (Womens moves).

For Social Services Applicants Only

Are you currently a foster carer, adoptive applicant or respite carer for Bracknell Social Services?

no

If YES please give details:

General experience and further information

Please state why you are interested in this position and give details of skills and experience relevant to this post, taking account of any accompanying information. Reference can be made to voluntary work and other interests.

I am particularly interested in this position because it sounds very innovative and includes teaching literacy , numeracy and IT to adults, which is my ideal teaching situation.
I have a range of experience relevant to the post. I taught IT to adults attending a supported training workshop (Lynx Workshops for adults recovering from mental health problems), where I developed IT training in the main workshop and an Outreach project.
I was able to develop a range of IT courses from Entry to Level 2 and get them accredited with the Open College Network.
Since September 2003, I have worked in a variety of settings both as an Adult Tutor for the local Adult Education Service of East Riding Council and as a Learndirect Tutor in a range of community settings, e.g., private training companies and colleges.
My most recent contracts with the Adult Education Service have been teaching Internet skills to groups of older learners. I really enjoyed this, and understand this position could involve outreach to similar groups of learners.
I have upgraded my Skills for Life qualifications in the last two years and have a L4 Numeracy Subject Specialist Support certificate and have nearly completed a L3 Literacy Subject Specialist Support Qualifiaction.
I now feel I would like to move on from Learndirect and casual contracts and put my new skills to good use.
